Manchester Leadership Programme (MLP)

The Manchester Leadership Programme

Information for University Staff

The leadership skills, ethics and environmental concerns covered in the MLP are rightly on the top of the Chemical Engineers agenda. CEAS believes that the MLP will make its graduates better prepared for their careers and life outside University.

These pages will provide you with information about the academic requirement of the undergraduate MLP and an overview of how MLP courses can be tailored to the needs of your students.

MLP Leadership in Action Units are available as 10 or 20 credit units and as lecture based or entirely online units.

The MLP can provide students with an opportunity to enhance their employability and broaden their student experience. The programme offers a combination of credit rated academic units (level 5) and volunteering that is unique to the University of Manchester.

Leadership in Action units provide students with challenging and academically rigorous options. They require students to apply higher level critical thinking and study skills within the context of the connected challenges of socially, economically and environmentally sustainable development.

Information about the kinds of volunteering MLP students might choose to undertake can be found on the volunteering pages. The level of award attained is based upon the amount of volunteering undertaken.

Volunteering does not form part of the assessment of the academic units. Volunteering achievement is reflected in the level of the MLP Award detailed on students’ HEAR.
