Barnardo's - fundraising for children

Theme

Children & young people

About the project

We are dedicated to raising funds for the most underprivileged children in the UK, helping with a wide range of issues such as poverty, sexual exploitation, domestic violence and disability. The Manchester Barnardo's Society is entering its, and already it has made great achievements; for example, last year, it raised over £2300 and winning Banardo's Student Society of the Year!

Activities

Barnardo's organises a wide variety of interesting and challenging fundraisers throughout the year, including small scale activities like bake sales and Mega Raids, which are street collections taking place in cities all over the UK; previous locations include Edinburgh and Liverpool. Larger scale ventures have involved a charity auction and an international food festival.

What you can get out of it:

By joining Barnardo's, you can gain invaluable skills to aid both your personal development and increase your appeal to prospective employers; to name a few. These include team work, leadership, planning and organising, using initiative/problem solving. Overall, it's a great way to give your communication skills a boost! But, most importantly, you will gain the knowledge that the time and effort you give is not just appreciated, but really is making a difference to the lives of children and young people who are in need.
