Those students who complete the Manchester Leadership Award will have this included on their Higher Education Achievement Record when they graduate.

What is volunteering?

Volunteering is an unpaid activity with a charity or not-for-profit organisation that makes a difference to the wider community.

Volunteering is a great way to make a difference. As well as being fun, it can also help to:

  • Give you a great sense of achievement
  • Help you develop skills that employers look for, such as communication, organisation and teamwork skills
  • Make a positive impact on the wider community.

What counts as volunteering on the MLP?

A key aim of the MLP is to bring you into contact with the wider community to make a positive impact. It is therefore essential that you work with volunteer organisations outside of the University.

As one of the overall aims of the MLP is to give back to the local community, at least 15 hours of your volunteering must be carried out in the North West of England.
